We have excellent speakers lined up and they include:
• Welcome and Update on the Ms Wheelchair Wisconsin Program with Gina Hackel, State Program Director
• "The Big Picture—Maintaining Perspective" with Miriam Lieber
As the federal government forges ahead with plans for competitive bidding, it is essential that you take stock of your operation and concentrate on maximizing efficiencies with your staff, software, operational flow and more. Planning for change now will impact business tomorrow. This session will be a candid, hands-on discussion about improving day-to-day processes and overcoming resistance to these changes from your staff.
• "Strategic Alliances and New Product Lines: Increase Your Profitability While Avoiding Legal Pitfalls" - Jeffrey Baird, Esq
Diabetic supplies, respiratory medications, infusion therapy, power mobility, CPAPs, wound care, ostomy, orthotics....these are examples of new product lines that the traditional HME provider can offer. Joint ventures, preferred provider agreements, management arrangements, medical director agreements, consignment closet arrangements....these are examples of strategic alliances that the HME company can enter into with other providers. This program will discuss the legal parameters to follow, and the legal pitfalls to avoid, as the HME provider expands into new product lines and enters into strategic alliances with other health care providers.
• "Marketing Plans, Joint Ventures and Other Arrangements Can Help a Business Grow" - Jeffrey Baird, Esq
Unfortunately, creative ideas can be contrary to what the law allows. The speaker will discuss the many schemes, scams and flimflams that he has seen in the marketplace, a number of which he has had to “resolve” with Federal prosecutors. In doing so, he will discuss those arrangements that the provider simply must avoid.
• "What's New With Medicaid" - Rosemary Van Susteran
How the Wisconsin Medicaid Program policy is affected in light of the State Budget and the exciting changes resulting from the development of a new, web based Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).
• "Washington Update" - Cara Bachenheimer
In this seminar, get the latest information on what Congress and CMS have in store that will impact your business. You'll get the latest detailed information on competitive bidding (Cara is a member of the Program Advisory and Oversight Committee, providing CMS recommendations for implementing competitive bidding), as well as an update on the new Medicare national coverage policy for mobility assistive equipment and the related new policies such as the "face-to-face examination," new CMN, new HCPCS codes, and more.
• "Region B DMERC and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Update" - Marvette Wallace and Pat Graham
Topics to be covered are the top claim submission errors and Inquiries, wheel chair codes, Mobility Assistive Algorithms, CMS Open Door Forums and supplier training, Mandatory Submission of Medicare Claims (ASCA) and NPI.
